I will be a partner in this investment. This is what residual rights means. It is as simple as dividing the ownership of a work of art into shares. The share-holdership is divided into the relative amounts representing the amounts each of us retains. If I have a work for sale at $ 15,000 and the collectors has $ 8,000 available, then we may make the sale with a residual rights agreement where I retain 48% ownership. There are additional stipulations regarding future sales, image reproduction rights and availability for including the work in exhibitions.
