Formative Path

Symphonic abstract is the way of thinking River brings to these new works. They transports us into a mythic place we have never seen before. The paintings are vivid portraits of a new world. A place where techno-science might take us to unveil the formative structure of quantum mechanics and organic fusion. The artist believes abstract art is entering a classical period. The re-integration of classical art values in abstraction is an attitude where complexity and degree of difficulty support not glimpses, but vistas of the abstract. These worlds are an exciting frontier of visual experience. River feels the new abstracts are part of a formative core where no adjectives are necessary To arrive at an understanding of this place. As River describes it, "These new visions have a gravity of their own which absorbs methodologies. Things like, action painting, pointillism, hard edge, colorist, media are all absorbed by the density of visual experience." The discoveries these paintings point to are a sense of a primal creative force River describes as a "Formative Path."
